Digitising asset management in social housing can bring numerous benefits and performance improvements. Chameleon Digitization recognises that every social landlord operates differently, and therefore asset management must be approached differently. We don’t rely on asset management software tools; we focus on the data and the way it is collected, analysed and reported to the client. Microsoft tools that are agnostic to the plethora of asset management software systems are used, saving your organisation time and money. This approach enabled ng homes to make better investment decisions and budget planning.
Working with ng homes, Chameleon Digitization were asked to help develop their asset management strategy. A key focus of the strategy was to develop their stock condition information and translate that into a 30-year investment plan.
Some common challenges that ng homes faced when deciding on which solution to implement were:
Data Accuracy and Integrity: Transitioning from manual to digital processes requires accurate and reliable data input. Only accurate or complete data can lead to good decisions and efficient resource allocation.
Integration and Interoperability: Integrating a new digital asset management system with existing systems like accounting, maintenance, and tenant management software can be challenging. The question is whether this is required in the first place. Developing a 30-year investment plan should primarily be on the component condition data from stock condition surveys.
Data Migration: If transitioning from a manual or other asset management system, migrating existing data to the new digital platform can be complex and time-consuming.
Long Term Sustainability: As technology evolves rapidly, there’s a need to ensure the chosen solution remains relevant and upgradable over time.
