Penso were commissioned by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to design, develop and manufacture ADV (Attribute Development Vehicle) focussing on the efficiency and driving quality of the vehicle.
Extensive computer aided engineering (CAE) analysis was carried out resulting in a data led design solution. The analysis allowed parametric assessment in vehicle engineering to optimise performance.
A comprehensive kinematics and feasibility study reviewed the motion of each mechanical points of the manual folding roof, highlighting issues and where improvements can be made. This study enabled the team to design, develop and produce a powered roof system to seamlessly transform the vehicle to a convertible model.

The new design for the powered roof system necessitated a reimagined functional tailgate and realignment of the rear seatbelts, with hand skived leather enfolding the rear seats to complete the design.
The engineering team accomplished every aspect of the project working remotely to Jaguar Land Rover’s in-depth and thorough processes and systems.
Penso’s team ensured the ADV was delivered within a 12 week period, ready for intense product validation testing.
